       Wu Yao Actions and Indications
  • Promotes movement of qi; alleviates pain (hypochondriac pain, epigastric and abdominal pain and distension due to cold with qi stagnation; stifling sensation of chest, stops pain in many areas, for cold and qi stagnation of lower abdomen, stroke caused by wind-cold attacking channels, hernia disorder, menstrual pain)
  • Warms the Kidney; Disperses Cold (failure to retain urine with soreness or coldness of the low back and knees, frequent urination, enuresis, fatigure, spermatorrhea)

    Special Notes:
  • Wu Yao, Mu Xiang, and Xiang Fu all regulate qi and relieve pain. Wu Yao is for hernial pain and enters the KD. Mu Xiang is for Middle Jiao qi stagnation and lower abdominal pain, while Xiang Fu is neutral and is one of the best herbs to treat hypochondriac pain.
